FINAL ESSAY
the positive things about south central is that we got nice schoosl that teach us really good plus almost all people get alone and the negative things are that south central has alot of stereotypes that people make plus in south central theres still alot of drugs dealers..
the first event that had a great impact on making south central what it is today is the watts riots.in the watts riots people really got tired of all the injusticies …the riot start when marquette fry was arrested for no reason that make the people mad because they were doing alot of injusticies to them and they got sick of it..This crowd of people started off the riots. They destroyed buildings and looted stores that night. The rioting quickly spread to Watts. The media and news stations reported this, but did not report on all of the peaceful speakers.and the riots continued on the third day of the riotsin Watts was burned to the ground. This day also marked the spread of the riots to other parts of South Central, especially up Central Ave. Looting continued and snipers began to take out police and the National Guard.at the end many people die it was 34 people died. 118 people suffered gunshot wounds. Most people were killed by the LAPD and the National Guard. There was over $40 million in damagesAfter the riots, “white flight” occurred. Thousands of white residents in the areas around Watts, such as Compton, South Central, and Inglewood, left Los Angeles in fear. Many Black residents left Watts to these other areas. the deeper reason for rioting was racism and the lack of power people had over their life. and thats how the riots end up..
the second event that had a big impact was LA RIOTS.to start Rodney King was severely beaten by the police on March 3, 1991.the police beat him because he believed he was on drugs, although he was not.The police proceeded to beat Rodney King severely for about 15 minutes, resulting in skull fractures, broken bones and teeth, and permanent brain damage.this got the people mad and you could see how racism people was..Latasha Harlins was a 15-year old Black young woman. She entered a liquor store on Figueroa on March 16, 1991 to buy some orange juice. She picked up the juice and put it in her backpack. She took out the money to pay for it and approached the counter. The woman running the store was Soon Ja Du, she thought latasha was going to leave without paying and latasha hit du in response to this so du picked up a gun and shut her and latasha die..this got many people mad and they start to riots for tneir right it was so dumn that they didnt do nothing to the girl that shut her…du only had it to pay a 500 fine…and that got more upset the people…The riots happened quickly. Liquor stores, chain stores, fast-food places, and white people were the main targets of looting, fire, and violence…Reginald Denny, a white truck driver, was crossing Florence and Normandie. He was pulled out of his car by Damian Williams, a resident of the area. He was severely beaten while a helicopter recorded the incident. Williams took a piece of concrete and slammed it against Denny’s head and then celebrated.at the second dayThe riots were more organized and South LA began to burn. Korean store owners came to defend their stores and had gunbattles with rioter…but they couldnt do nothing..at the 3 day he police and National Guard continued to let the city burn as a huge power outage hit South Central. In the end, 53 people were killed, most all were rioters or innocent victims. Over $1 billion in damages were done. People rioted because of the built up anger and frustration of recent events..The only way they were finally heard was through the extreme acts that came to be called the LA Riots.
the third and final event is crack epidemic…to start with Crack is a form of the drug cocaine. The story begins in the early 1900s in Nicaragua, a country in Central America. In this country, the US took complete military control because they wanted to control the farm land.
